How the upfront payment works
The upfront payment is required when you accept an engagement. The exact rate (between 0.2% and 0.5%) is agreed before payment.
This payment is credited toward the 3% success fee — it is not an additional charge. If you receive investment, you pay only the remaining balance of the success fee after your upfront credit is applied.
Success fee
The 3% success fee applies to investment capital you actually receive. It is not charged on commitments, interest, or introductions — only on funds that are transferred to your business.
Refund policy
If no investment capital is received within the 3-month service period, your entire upfront payment is refunded.
The following do not count as receiving investment:
- An introduction or meeting with an investor
- An expression of interest
- A letter of intent
- A signed term sheet without accompanying funds
Only actual capital transferred to your business triggers the success fee. Anything short of that means a full upfront refund.
Example calculation
For a funding request of $50,000 CAD with an illustrative upfront rate of 0.5%:
Partial funding
If you receive less than your target amount, the success fee is calculated on capital actually received. The upfront payment is credited once. Any upfront credit exceeding the earned success fee is refunded at case closure.
Note: The specific partial-funding policy and fee treatment must be agreed before payment. This is recorded as an assumption subject to owner review and approval before payment collection is activated.
What we don't charge
- No application fee — submitting costs nothing
- No cancellation penalties
- No automatic extensions
- No minimum funding thresholds
- No post-deadline commission rights on investments received after the service period ends
